I saw an episode of engine masters last week where they tested a bunch of different fans to see which one was the best in terms of the least hp to run and although the electric fans where by far the clear all out winner saving about 32hp and 24ft/lbs over a stock fan, I want my car to still look stock. So I thinking about going with a clutch fan which only took about 15 hp and 9ft/lbs to run. Any of you guys running clutch fans? And if so, which one would work the best on my 70 Challenger RT with a 440 engine?

My cars have the stock clutch fans and they work great. If you have the stock 7 blade fan, call up NAPA and they can get you the correct clutch. Not sure, but you may need to change the pulley to get the correct length setup.

Same pulley, but you'll have to ditch the spacer. The clutch determines the distance of the fan to the rad.

Does your car have the 26" radiator or 22"? Also does it have a shroud? My book shows a 18" 7 blade fan for a 440 without air PN 2863 224. I am guessing that would be with a 22" radiator. If you have the 26" radiator with a shroud, your best bet would be PN 2863 216 (18 1/2") with clutch 2863 260. Those parts are for 340, 383 & 440 with AC and the 426 Hemi that did not come with AC. I think the shroud opening is the same on all. If you have the 26" radiator, I have the 18 1/2" fan and clutch. $95 plus the ride. I just checked the shipping for a guy on the B body site from Canada and the shipping was $53.95. He declined because of the shipping cost. It is boxed up and ready to go if interested. Here are some pics. There are a dozen of them on ebay now and some are new. Tony's parts has new repopped fans in the 2863 216 PN.
PM me if interested

My rad measured in at 22" and my standard 7 blade fan 17.5" and I don't have a shroud right now but I'm planning on getting one.
