How would I verify the intake manifold for my 1973 340 'Cuda is correct. If it makes a difference, pretty sure it's a california car. Came with the correct California 340 automatic Thermoquad.

The number in front of the carburator is 3671918AE, I believe.

Did you find the casting number on it? Example from a 70 340 below.

Intake number matches what I sent you. You have an aftermarket carb on there, Edelborck.

Yes sir. The Edelbrock has been on the car since it left California in 2007 I'm told, but the thermoquad came with the car in a box.

The carb number is hard to read in the pic, but it is correct for 1973 340 automatic california and the date lines up for an April build.

From the list I saw, the 6317/6318/6319 carbs were non-california. 6339/6340 were california cars. Don't really know the difference.

You are correct on the CA carb 6340S. I didn't go down the list far enough.

Looks like you have the correct intake manifold (3671918A) and correct Thermoquad. Get a rebuild kit for the Thermoquad ($45-$60) and rebuild it. They are actually a simple carb to rebuild and much better than anything out there in my opinion!

When they run correctly, it is hard to beat the thermoquad's performance. And the sound when the secondaries open... magical! When you rebuild the carb rebuild the throttle shaft too. The stock shaft setup is a weak point which leaks not only fuel but can leak air too. Fix it with the throttle shaft bushing kit.

Anyone know how many CFM this carb is. Vaanth has some GREAT information out there for the Thermoquad and I'm still sorting through it...
