Does anyone have any info on these tags ? I have read they had to roll up the inner wheel well lip in order to clear the 15" tire the Hemi cars came with hence why they added the second tag so the line guys would know? Anyone know much about this one?

Thanks

It's been talked about at length over the years. I can't remember if there was a decisive answer or not and it wasn't just the Hemi cars that got the 15" wheels.

Thanks that's what I thought as well could have been many , I have come across one of these original "HEMI Fender" tags and got the brain spinning to look into and see what you guys thought on the topic.

Use the advanced search and keyword Hemi fender and see what you come up with. It's been a long time since I've been on Moparts but I definitely remember a conversation about it over there on an A66 thread(340 Challenger). CudaChallenger.com might. E a place to look for the topic as well. Of course we've got some very smart fellas here too that will chime in im sure.

The Hemi fender was not due to wheel size. It was due to tire size. The F60X15 was standard and available on the Hemi only. All other 15's were E60X15. Here is a page from the dealer order forms.

AAR'S also had the rolled fenders. I think they had E60x15 on the front

Maybe that was so you could take the car racing. T/A may be the same way. They were package cars. I don't have a list of the components to the packages here at the house.

I have no info on the hemi fender tag. I do know that there have been a few aar/ta's that have the rolled front fenders. But a lot of the "in the know" mopar guys claim there were no aar/ta's that got the rolled fenders. I too would like someone else to step up with a set of factory rolled fenders.
There weren't many of the rolled fenders regardless. Not many hemi's made, so how many of those even got the rolled fender?

Thanks for the info , from what I have researched on the net these tags are pretty rare

Tags are rare for sure. I think the fenders are even more rare.
I almost purchased an aar fender with the rolled section. But someone had used multiple parts off the fender to repair several other fenders. I passed. Probably should not have passed on the part.

The fenders aren't any different then any others. It was to signify that the fender had the rolled lip which was done with a jig on the assembly line. The idea was the rolled lip was to give clearance under hard body roll. The trans am cars were supposed to have this as well but not all cars had it done. Same with all other cars. I talked to a supervisor from the Hamtramck Plant and he said that if someone called off work that day and they needed someone to fill in they pulled the person working that job that day. Understand that was one person who worked there so is that the main reason some cars got it and some didn't?? Maybe...maybe not. Ive seen a couple original cars that had the hemi fender tag but the fenders didn't have rolled lips.

Got any pics. I'll bet some fenders got tossed by people thinking they were done by a previous owner.
