Mirror Remote Control Bezel

I replaced the driver’s side rearview mirror with an aftermarket mirror and below I have the original (smaller) bezel and the replacement one, rear and front. Has anyone ever seen an original that looks like the larger one? This car was a Grand Coupe, so I don’t know if the type I had originally may have just been for Grand Coupes, or who knows, but just curious if it should look like the new one does.

I ended up using the original bezel nut due to the new bezel being larger and completely different.

I ended up using the original bezel nut due to the new bezel being larger and completely different.

I thought about doing that, especially once I saw all the shimming and other things I had to do, but the original no longer works because I had to make the hole larger for the new one. When I put the old one back in, it just moved around in the hole. Not happy about what I had to do to get it in. Plus the old one is in bad shape.
