Looks to be a good 71 Cuda 340 project with an ambitious price;
1971 'CUDA - $40,000

1971 'CUDA FOR SALE- PROJECT CAR. Supposed to be numbers matching, 340 automatic. Twin headlights, side gills, had kids and no time to restore.

Ambitious would be someone wanting to take that on as a project. It appears that the only savable sheet metal is the front grill, hood, trunk lid, and right fender, and they may even be bad. All the other parts look to be rusted out, or damaged. The car appears to be last plated in California in around 2006-2008, and now in Tennessee for sale? Whatever the story on this car, it is nowhere near the asking price.

If you were given that car for free you would be upside down if you restored it properly.

At the end of the day you would have a patched together car with a bunch or replaced panels and a big dent in your bank account.

Far better off to wait to find one done.
I know 71 Cuda's are not everywhere, but they pop up enough.

Never seen a front valance rust through like that. I'm not sure there is anything there to start with other than a VIN plate and dash. Literally every piece of metal probably needs to be replaced or majorly spliced.

With some folks; a childhood experience, a long lost memory from the early days of manhood or a burning desire to mend that which was hurt or damaged, or all of the above, will possess their souls to take on projects like that and not consider monetary gain, not at all ....
All to prove that no matter what wrong was done in the past, they have the might to make it right once again.
I don't know, sometimes, madness is dear in some folks.

It should be saved and now the problem is this owners asking price coupled with it sitting outside will likely only make the situation worse for this rare car when someone is allowed to get busy with it.

Roughly speaking; the 71 Cudas seem to sell at a premium over the 70 models in general. A 340 or 383 Cuda would probably sell in the $50K + range depending on other factors (color, originality, level of restoration and more rare options such as a shaker) If you look up current 71 Cuda's for sale, asking prices seem to fall into this range.

True that. But a 50K Cuda , probably had 70K+ spent on it. Lol

Maybe the seller of this 71 is basing his expectation on these numbers?
Chances are, by the time the restoration of this Cuda is completed, the average price would be higher still! And let's hope we have a few more years and then we'll see that thing easily sell for 100k.
