Thank you, that looks like the version where the rubber bumper is held in with two metal tabs that get bent over. I think there maybe a version that the rubber bumper has a rubber "tab" pushed through the metal bracket.

As already posted, the rear axle pinion carrier support, or snubber, with the rubber bumper shown, Chrysler number 2403906, is the type originally installed on a 1970 model 8-3/4" rear axle. As noted, the bumper is attached via the integral metal straps to two slots on the support.

The bumper and the support changed in mid 1972 to a push-in bumper and a single large slot on the support. The new bumper, Chrysler number 3643969, was used in car applications from May 1972 - September 9, 1974. This bumper was also used on other rear axles in addition to the 8-3/4" axle. The following image shows the newer style:

Part number 3643969 was superseded by Chrysler number 3845139 after September 9, 1974. 3845139 was used in rear wheel drive passenger car applications through 1989 and can interchange with 3643969.

I have the snubber, but it's so low, I doubt it would ever do anything.

The answer to that lies in a performance part that has been available for many years. An adjustable pinion snubber. Bolts in the same location and is adjustable upwards towards the floor pan. Like this.

You really don't want the rubber up close against the floor pan either. Going over bumps will beat the snot out of your pan!
