Rear exhaust hangers

Hey guys, I am installing new exhaust hangers and exhaust shields on a 71 Challenger. The rubber slot is only open on one end. My question is, does this slot go towards the front or rear of the car? Thanks.

The slot should go all the way through so the long part of the hanger can pass thru.

OK, mine must not be made correct as the slot does not go completely through the rubber as the original did. Thank you.

Did you try to push the hanger thru the slot? Sometimes there is a thin rubber flashing from the mould covering it.

I had that flash on mine that I installed on my 71 Challenger. Should be able to push through or cut with a knife.

The hangers bolt to the trunk floor along with another bracket that is located in the trunk on the two roughly 2"x4" flat areas near the tail light panel.

I was looking at the picture where the tips come out the side in front of back wheels . I put quick time performance exhaust cut outs on my 74 challenger and I wanted them to come out the side from headers
