I removed the rear window glass to repair some rust holes. I'm installing new trim clips. Does it matter where the spacer clips (I think that's what it's called) go? The old clips were missing. Also, is adhesive used to reinstall the rear glass or is butyl tape used? I heard this tape is illegal in some states because when it dries up, the glass can pop out. . Thanks

Todays answer to everything. Rubber setting-blocks comes with the butyl-tape. That what you should use. Helps get the right spacing when setting the window. The clips are used to set the vertical position of the window, by using the block under the clips.

Urethane adhesive is use now. Because of if there is an accident the tape won't hold the window in. I used both. Tape to set windows then urethane to seal it up. Also trowel it in then. And yes illegal for a company to use it.

As far as where they go. Find bottom center of window frame. Then place center on each side. Not real crucial where they go as long as it puts the window in the right place. A dry run is always good if you never done it. Wouldn't hurt to have a helping hand.

Got it. The clips are for side to side location of the glass. I think I may take it to a glass shop. I did the butyl tape before on a Camaro, what a pain. Thanks.
