what holds stainless trim to 70 cuda grill

friction.

the plastic of the grill extends outward making tabs, to which the trim is pressed onto the tab and held in place by friction.

The grill in this photo was painted over in black, but you can see tabs above and below the turn signal section of the grill.

glue will hold if you don't drive it.

A two part epoxy glue will do the trick. I'd also consider some down sided tape. I used some double sided tape to hold the RAM Cummins Tubo Charged emblems on my 89 Dodge Cummins and they haven't fell off yet. Of course the top speed of the truck is about 70 mph, but I live in the high desert were it gets HOT and cold.
