Still new to owing a Mopar - My starter overheats after awhile (40 minute drive then parked) 10 minutes later and it won’t restart the car until it cools down. The connections look fine, no discoloration, no binding gear sounds, MSD acting normal.

Are Mopar LA’s starter motors all the same size? I have a 72 Cuda w/ a 1978 360 motor.

Trying to ascertain if a Speedmaster PCE393.1036 is truly compatible (Mopar and Chrysler SB) 318 340 360 383 440 Mini High-Torque 4Hp Starter

As always, thank you in advance

First time, but also the first time driving it for distance. Mostly been short drives as I have been working on the suspension, restoring the trunk, and other minor issues

Very hot to the touch. Got home after a 40 minute drive, pulled over to the curb and shut her off while I moved my other car. Hopped in to restart and nothing- all the dash lights, msd, everything appeared normal, when you turn the key, nothing happens at the starter. No clicking, nada, like someone removed the starter. Played around looking at fuses, wires, connections and after about 10 minutes of sitting it fired right up?

Are you running headers or manifolds? If the headers wrap close to the starter, they will overheat the starter. Also make sure the starter gear is retracting fully and not spinning once the engine starts.
