going to detail my rear end housing what is the third member is it left raw painted silver painted black please help
 
Left raw with the proper paint daubs for the gear/diff setup. There's also an inspection daub on the fill plug.
 
This is an original from a low mileage car. I don't remember what year. I believe it was a 72. Inspection colors can change in different years.

I have no idea as to why the pics posted twice.
 
1970 Dodge Challenger I know there's a gear ratio tag you wouldn't happen to have a picture of them dabs so I know what they look like
 
Let me look later. I know I have pics from a 70 TA with 18,000 miles on it.
 
Search this forum for differential color reference chart, we covered this topic about 3 weeks ago.
 
I was going to say those color codes have been available for decades in print so it shouldnt be hard to find.
