Happy 4th of July everyone. I have a question regarding the timing cover for a small block. I read/saw a video some place that if you remove the oil pan and timing cover, you"re supposed to tighten up the oil pan first, then tighten up the timing cover. This is so the front seal, seats properly. Has anyone else heard of this? Thanks.

When I've had to replace a small block timing cover, I always had to tighten the pan bolts first to crush the section of cork gasket so I could get the holes in the front of the block to line up. So I guess I did it right out of necessity. 🙂
