Thanks for the reply, ill look into this definitely. Did you soak it in something to clean it out ? Ill definitely rebuild it myself. Would appreciate any advice. By the way what 3 kits are involved? As was mentioned, Musclecar research has the rubber parts to rebuild yours. It takes 3 kits to get all of the rubber O rings. They are not real tough to rebuild. I just did one like yours a few weeks ago. Yours is more than likely siezed up from moisture and dirty fluids. It has been 50 + years so it is to be expected. I have a few tips if you decide to rebuild it yourself.
Here is a picture of the order form I got for the 3 kits. I lost the little brass hat and small spring that was at the bottom of the metering valve assembly so that was miscellaneous parts I got with my three kits. Almost surely your metering valve is stuck. If you can get it out in one piece, maybe you can just clean it up and reuse it all. If it don't leak, maybe you could get by without the new rubber parts but as long as you have it apart, I believe it would be beneficial. I didn't soak mine in anything since it was not too bad just dirty and gunky. Once you get the metering valve out, you can take a long 1/8" punch and drive the brass cylinders and the seat out. Harbor Freight Tools have the brass brushes if you don't have one. Good luck, I'm sure you will be happy with the outcome. When you get it all back together, plug all the holes and clean it up with brake cleaner and spray some Eastwood Cast Blast paint on it. It will out live you.THANK YOU !
