Working on my last few renovations before saying goodbye to my '70 440 RT, we've been together 30 years. I got all the parts I thought were needed to replace my filthy dirty shifter console, plate shifter and slapstik lens window. I just took out the old plate and was expecting to see screws on the housing underneath the plate but it's welded shut. What is the technical term for the part in photo #4 that attaches to my new chrome plate from underneath? Can I find a repro replacement part. In photo #5 there is a number code stamped on it, but I can't find anything from searching the web that makes sense. If there is no such aftermarket part to put on my new chrome plate I'll have to have this welded off or something I suppose and then adhesive the new plate to it, unless the screw holes are re-usable.

What is the technical term for the part I need for my lil project here please?

Thanks - Dean

You can dremel tool the spot welds out, but unless you got a mig/tig welder, you may have to take it to a welding shop to seal it shut, again. If you are going that route, find the welding shop, first, and bring the part. They may have mercy on you and help you get it apart.

Thanks for the reply! Is that not a part that I could find at year one or similar? Being that the new outer chrome plate was sold with the tiny screws I would think that there must be a replacement part that just had screw holes to attach the two together?
