there is A square metal plate that go's over the knob, I have used A large C clip. that will hold it, then install the nut.

I have the plate. I thought I would need the washer to keep from spinning...maybe not Ill try. Thanks

The square spring steel plate has a tab that goes in the small slot to keep it from spinning. If yours is broke and you need a good used one let me know i have them
