Ate a valve head

I was starting my 72 Barracuda 318 from cold, when I heard a bit of rattling (like a spring came loose) Then I noticed it was running very rough and would not idle. I pulled all the spark plugs and noticed one of them is rather damaged... Photos attached.

Clockwise or counter clockwise?? Open or closed? I want to wire it open, is it counter clockwise CLOSED and clockwise OPEN? thanks

Ok so I unplugged the sender, put some cable in the plug and put the other end of the cable onto the frame of the car. Nothing happened. When I plug the sender back in the gauge goes up a little. I don't think there is a problem with the gauge.

Gets to about 32 at the lowest maybe a little lower. I am not really keen on taking off the manifold to take out the plate.. would rather wire it open or tack weld it open, not sure if the cast iron will take to the weld though.

Hi guys, My fuel gauge as topic states, seems to work , but when full doesn't show full and as I use fuel it moves a little down. Is there a problem with the fuel sender or the gauge, I would have thought that the gauge is working as it moves a little. thanks jc

Okay guys, Ordered a complete new signal switch from the states after the signal cam was faulty, should have learnt and not gone to the same ebay shop. Anyway. installed the new switch and as soon as I plug into factory loom/plug (had to modify female plug to accommodate new cheap chinese plug)...

I checked the signal cam and the it seems a little tab of plastic had broken off. so the contact wasn't in place. Would this be the reason for brake light failure? see photo

72 barracuda rear right brake not working, rear right hazard not working but... Rear right signal is working. All the same globe but different filament. I replaced signal cam.. Is this the problem? Swapped out globe/bulbs no fix.

Leo, the choke could well be the problem. where is it? I will have to look in the workshop manual. I'm pretty sure there is a choke, is it auto?

Ok now that the condensation has cleared up I was just being a bit cautious. the condensation goes away but a smoke is still there , the car always did smoke a little bit when running , but seems to be more now not sure it maybe running rich...? what are your thoughts? What's the ideal oil to...
