My 1970 Challenger has the Speed Control option which worked fine until recently when I lost the speedometer and odometer. It appears the speed control unit seized up and it snapped the lower speedometer cable at the transmission end.
Does anyone have experience repairing them? Are they simple...
Thank you for the replies and photos. There is no evidence of cross-threading. The stud that was in there previously does not look as if it was snapped at the bottom but I cannot rule out a broken off piece of a prior stud still being down there, getting in the way.
It is interesting that the...
I recently tried to replace the hood-mounted three-mast antenna that had been broken at the base on my 1970 Challenger. However an inexpensive repro that is said to be correct for the car has a threaded shaft that is a half-inch longer than the one that was previously installed. As a result, the...
On the turn signal issue, check to ensure the housing is making a good connection to the valance. Mine did not.
I had smoke from the column when engaging the turn signal. The aforementioned ground problem caused the turn signal switch in the column to short out.
Congratulations! What a great car. Here is my car's tab under the fender tag from 1970. As I understand it, the tab was originally several inches long and was shortened by various inspectors along the assembly line. Others can correct if they have better info. All the best in your restoration!
I have a bone stock 383 in my '70 Challenger that was 2-BBL, single-exhaust. With a simple move to dual exhaust and an Edelbrock 650 CFM carb, I am delighted with the improvement in performance, but did not take before/after measurements. (For completeness, I also had to change the intake...
In 2015, I used woodgrainwheels.com in Indiana to refurbish the electrical part of my rim blow. I did the cosmetic part myself, restaining the wood like furniture and using a chrome strip and plastic lacing tacked with glue over the rim. Pleased with the results. Works properly and looks good at...
I used Just Dashes for my Burnt Orange interior 1970 Challenger convertible. I sent all 8 panels, including seat backs and front kick panels. It was neither speedy nor inexpensive, but I was willing to splurge since the interior is exposed for much of the top-down season and I wanted to do it...
First of all, thank you for your service and for being such a good son. When I restored my Challenger, I also put all of the body side moldings back on the car. These are the clips I used. R/T Specialties - Mopar Fasteners, Clips & Hardware
When I redid my 70 Challenger convertible's burnt orange interior, my wife requested front leather because she remembered them from the 70 SE we had 40 years ago. So I gladly complied, even though not original to the conv. Sourced from Legendary. Sorry for topic diversion. Hope you make your sale.
