    Hagerty insurance

I had American Collectors for many years before moving to Hagerty. It may have changed, but at the time, AC was very restrictive about parade/show usage and annual mileage driven whereas Hagerty has no such limitations. I ran into trouble with AC denying payment on a minor accident because I...

    Speed control repair

Just to close my quest, I want to thank everyone for your help. The replacement cable did the job (when cut to fit of course). I ended up using only the end of the ebay servo that includes the gears and the flywheel and transplanted it into my original servo. Everything works perfectly!

    Speed control repair

As the seller says the gears move freely, that is definitely worth the $50 all in price. So I snapped it up. Thank you, Xcudame!

    Speed control repair

An update. Upon removal of the gear cover, I discovered the problem. One of the four plastic (nylon?) tabs that hold in place the pins of the two metal flywheels broke off and another looks worn. (In the first photo, notice nothing is left to hold the flywheel pin in place.) Does anyone have a...

    Speed control repair

Fair advice. I am just surprised that no forum members to have seen this have apparently worked on them or knows someone who has.

    Speed control repair

Thank you, heminut. That could solve the broken cable. Does anyone have any insight on whether or not the seized Speed Control unit is repairable? If so, who/how? If not, are replacement units for sale?

    Speed control repair

My 1970 Challenger has the Speed Control option which worked fine until recently when I lost the speedometer and odometer. It appears the speed control unit seized up and it snapped the lower speedometer cable at the transmission end. Does anyone have experience repairing them? Are they simple...

    Antenna threaded shaft length

Thank you for the replies and photos. There is no evidence of cross-threading. The stud that was in there previously does not look as if it was snapped at the bottom but I cannot rule out a broken off piece of a prior stud still being down there, getting in the way. It is interesting that the...

    Antenna threaded shaft length

I recently tried to replace the hood-mounted three-mast antenna that had been broken at the base on my 1970 Challenger. However an inexpensive repro that is said to be correct for the car has a threaded shaft that is a half-inch longer than the one that was previously installed. As a result, the...

Light smoke coming from steering column

On the turn signal issue, check to ensure the housing is making a good connection to the valance. Mine did not. I had smoke from the column when engaging the turn signal. The aforementioned ground problem caused the turn signal switch in the column to short out.

    1973 cuda 340 4 speed

Congratulations! What a great car. Here is my car's tab under the fender tag from 1970. As I understand it, the tab was originally several inches long and was shortened by various inspectors along the assembly line. Others can correct if they have better info. All the best in your restoration!
