    Running Hot?

Ha, I'm not insulted...I would ask the same question, but I do have the thermostat in correctly. I think you and quapman are correct about the 440 source pump housing. I did a quick google search and found plenty of conversations about the housing have small holes and even restricted flow...

    Running Hot?

Thanks quapman, I think I might just go back with the original cast iron housing....I think I'm gonna dump the water pump I got from 440 source as well.

    Running Hot?

The heater is connected and I left the heater control on hot just to make sure the coolant was flowing through the heater core. I didn't think to touch the hoses just to make sure they are hot with coolant flow. I will do that next time around. My thermostat this time is a Summit brand. Not...

    Running Hot?

I just ran it tonight. It runs at 200 at low RPM, and it got up to 205 while out on the highway. I got out the digital temp gun and I'm getting 200 on the return hose just above the thermostat which is what the gauge reads at idle. So the temp appears to be real. Another goofy thing it does that...

    Running Hot?

Hey Guys, I wanted to get some opinions on my situation. I have a fresh rebuilt 440-6 that has about 500 miles on it. I originally put a 195 thermostat, radiator was a standard factory 26" 4 core with a fan shroud, viscous fan, and it consistently ran at 205 degrees at idle and low speed. Out...

    Dakota Digital Rallye Gauges

Hello Everyone. I installed Dakota Digital's rallye gauge set earlier this year and just wanted to share some pics of how it turned out. I am very happy with how they fit and operate. I would recommend these to anyone looking to go aftermarket with their gauges. Here is how they look.

    440 Six Pack Tuning

Thanks everyone for the replies. This last time I ran it, I got the vacuum up to approximately 15" at idle. The bounce was still there, but it was only fluctuating about 0.5". You can also feel the pulse if you remove a vacuum hose and put your finger over it. This is the first time I ran it...

    440 Six Pack Tuning

jamesman, I haven't had a chance to run it again since last Thursday, but I will some night this week. I am planning to first check for a vacuum leak. If I don't find anything there then I'm going to check my plug wires again just to make sure I got them all crimped properly and they are...

    440 Six Pack Tuning

Hello Everyone, I'm working on a 440 in a '70 Cuda. I'm having some trouble tuning it so I wanted to get some of your thoughts. It runs decent, but at idle my vacuum is bouncing between 14" and 12". It used to be bouncing between 15" and 10" so I guess it is better, but not yet right. I...

Promax Six Pack Metering Block no Vacuum Advance?

Hello all! I had my six pack carbs for my 440 rebuilt by Promax. I had them install their metering block for the center carb not realizing that it doesn't have a vacuum advance port like the original metering block has. Their point was that the vacuum advance would add too much advance and...

    Hydraulic Roller Lifters in 440

I ended up going with Hughes. I pre-loaded them with about 1/2 to 3/4 turn past zero lash and they have been running good. I still need to tune the motor a little better, but so far so good. I have only put about 250 miles on it since the rebuild.

    Hydraulic Roller Lifters in 440

Looks like my options are; Hughes, Howards, Crower, Edelbrock, and Lunati. I couldn't find any from Crane. Also, I'm not sure how many of these are from the same supplier. I know a lot of companies just slap their name on the box so it's hard to tell. Anybody have any experience with these...

    Hydraulic Roller Lifters in 440

Does anyone have any brand recommendations/favorites for a set of hydraulic roller lifters for use in a 440? I have a Comp Cams XR274HR-10 (P/N 23-710-9) hydraulic roller camshaft. I followed all the recommendations of parts to be used with the camshaft (rocker arms, springs, lifters...

CPP Power Disk Brake Conversion Kit

The calipers have the bleeders at the top so i believe I have the calipers on the correct side. The proportioning valve came with the kit so I hope it is working ok. CPP also has a install/troubleshooting guide on their website so I will have to start plugging through there as well. I think I...

Aftermarket gauges in stock 70 Challenger dash?

I don't have any pictures, but what I was planning to do on my 70 Cuda was to use the 3 5" gauge set from Dakota Digital. They have the same layout as the Rallye dash. I haven't tried to fit them in the dash obviously yet, but I would think they would be able to be mounted in there some how...
