    New Engine, Similar Problem...

Hey guys, I know I haven't been on for awhile. Just got my computer up and running again so I hope to be on the site a lot more. The car's come quite a ways since my last posts. I now have a '72 413 that I yanked out of a motorhome (yeah, that's right) in the Challenger. It's been in for a...

    Charging issue, any ideas?

Hey guys, been a while since i've been on the site (computer broke this time, instead of the car). A few months back i put a 413 in my 70 challenger...how many e bodies have you seen with those? Runs really good, but i've been having some charging issues. Before you ask, i've replaced the...

    Cam Bearings?

Just pulled the intake and rocker arms. 7 of the lifters were completely caved in on the cam mating surfaces, and #2 exhaust lifter's plunger came out and was sitting in the valley. No bueno.

    Cam Bearings?

Anyone here ever spun a cam bearing? If so, what are the symptoms. Just rebuilt the engine a couple months ago, they were the only bearings I didn't replace. Couple days ago it started losing oil pressure and eventually started making a loud squeaking sound that increased/decreased with idle...

Got my new plug wires hooked up, it runs great. Thanks again for all the input fellas.

    Still having issues...

Well I went to check the plugs, and while doing that I noticed that the cylinder 5 plug wire was broken on the spark plug end. I replaced it with one of my old plug wires and problem solved. I'm going to warranty out my MSD plug wires tomorrow for some nice new ones. Once I have those on, I...

    Still having issues...

Thanks for the reminder moper, those things always slip my mind. As far as the fine tuning goes, I've gotten it dialed in, except I'm still experiencing a miss at low rpm that makes itself more noticeable as drive time increases. I rechecked all of my wiring for the electronic ignition...

    Still having issues...

I don't know exactly why it idled so high, maybe had something to do with the vacuum advance (i put alot lighter springs in a while back). But i got my new Mopar Performance distributor and box installed last night, and the idle seems much better. Haven't had a chance to do an overall timing on...

    1970 Challenger

70 Challenger, 383, 727, 4bbl, headers, custom exhaust, cam, 906 heads, intake work, rebuilt front end, t/a suspension, r/t hood, half restored/half custom interior, 8 3/4" 2:76's, and more bodywork than i'd care to mention. I've had the car for a little over 3 years. I bought it when i was 18...

    Still having issues...

The ballast resistor was actually bypassed completely. I tried hooking one up when i got the car, and it ran like crap. I realized last night that i still technically had a points style distributor, so i went out and splurged on a shiny new set of points and a condenser. I've driven about 100...

    Still having issues...

Interesting. Thanks for the info. Everything seems to point to the ignition as the source of my problem. I've been wanting to switch over to a Mopar electronic setup anyway, so i picked up a kit on ebay last night. In the meantime i'll just have to try and not drive it too often. I really...

    Still having issues...

The Pertronix was already installed in the engine, which i took out of my 1970 Chrysler Newport a while back. I imagine the owner of that car installed it to replace the points, but i don't know how long ago. I was never really a fan of that setup simply because there was no real external...

    Still having issues...

I believe so. It's a Pertronix Ignitor system, it basically consists of an inductive module in the distributor and the only box is a Mopar electronic voltage regulator. It still has spark right up to when it stalls, but the spark seems to get weaker. Just went through and cleaned all my grounds...

    Still having issues...

My two thoughts this morning were torque converter, or still a loss of spark. Started it up cold and just let it idle in park for about 30 minutes, never putting it in gear. It still died, and wouldn't fire back up again for about 5 minutes. I didn't test the spark but i noticed the coil is...
