That is at least an idea that will reduce the overall tension pushing up on the hood. It may be the second best alternative to removing the spring altogether. Thanks.
This is the only way I could think of doing it, but wondered if there was some awesome hack that I was unaware of. Even bending the tab without slipping and scratching the paint seems VERY difficult. Am I overthinking it? The first couple attempts led me to believe all parts including the tab...
I like that idea, but I think just the current spring pressure alone is warping the hood. The top of the spring is only causing minor damage to the under side of the hood. I could deal with that if it didn't warp.
these are great photos and I appreciate the response. However, I am referring to the popup spring near the hood latch, not the hood lift springs at the hinges.
Dumb question, but what is the best way to remove the hood popup spring without destroying the paint around it? I bought my 70 Barracuda with a good Moulin Rouge paint job already in place. It has a YearOne fiberglass AAR hood which warps badly in part because the hood popup spring is constantly...
I just stumbled across this thread. Do you still have the whole setup or is it now spoken for? How far are you from Terre Haute, IN. I have family there who could pick it up if shipping to me in Fairfield, CA 94534 is too costly.
I am looking for an ARP 240-5501 main stud kit for use with a windage tray on a 360. Hopefully one of you has one laying on a shelf and you are willing to get rid of it. I am leaving the country on military orders in a week so I am trying to get this quickly.
Non Scams! I don't have time for...
That is kind of how I have been doing things. As an item is no longer needed with the updated configuration, I tend to leave it in place to give a more stick appearance at a glance. There are many things that are no longer stock under the hood, but I try not to make them all jump out at once...
So I recently installed Vintage Air AC, Sniper Stealth EFI, Hyperspark CD Ignition/Coil/Distributor. I'm only getting about 12.0 volts charge when the AC is on. I have all new M&H wiring harnesses and bulkhead fixtures.
I want to install a higher amp alternator and bypass the ammeter.
I have...
Thank you. That is one of the many sites I was looking at last night. Of course I have to wait until Tuesday before I can actually call and speak to someone
