Hey guys I'm changing the color of my interior trim from brown to black on my 71 barracuda convertible but some parts I cannot find so am hoping to paint them but do not know what the best type, brand, or shade of black paint to use. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks Floyd. In addition to the plastic parts, I have a brown metal ashtray and glove box door. This Landau Black paint doesnt indicate use on metal so would you recommend something different for these parts or use it on everything?

I used SEM “Trim Black” on my dash frame, glove box door and ash tray door.

I used the following technique to get the slight texture on the dash frame and doors. Strip to bare metal, prime with SEM self-etching black primer; follow with a super light dusting/fogging using Rustoleum textured black paint; then top with SEM Trim Black. All done with aerosol cans.

You can get SEM online from multiple sources but I see you’re in Ellicott City. These guys carry the full line of SEM and are great to deal with:

Nyquist Paints, Inc 303 Najoles Road Suite 110 Millersville, MD 21108 410-987-0200

SEM is pricey, but you get what you pay for.

Rustoleum textured black is easy to find at any hardware store.

Thanks Floyd. I appreciate the guidance. Time for a field trip to Nyquist paints.

And Rondo, thanks for hooking me up with the Mopar Restoration paints website. This site will come in handy for color matches on other parts of my project.

@CFL Powdercoat them satin black, You willbe much happier. I have done many and its more durable and last like no other. Just did a complete dash frame including glove box door, ash tray and headliner trim bits. They look better than new

Show some pics of this "brown" interior. Are you changing a factory T7 - Tan interior to X9 - Black?
I love the rare non-black interiors. Properly done, these are very desirable.
