    340 - 440 stroker (512) vapor locking

Thanks for all the great info! I put in a new 3/8 sending unit with 1/4 return, wrapped the fuel lines with DEI insulation, and am still running both the mechanical fuel pump and the electric kicker pump by the tank that was installed by the shop that put the motor in for me. Drove around this...

    340 - 440 stroker (512) vapor locking

I have a 74 challenger that I just swapped a 340 for a stroker 440. The fuel system is original with the exception of a small electric kicker fuel pump run in line by the tank. I am having issues with vapor lock. The car will idle and drive for about 30 minutes on a summer day before cutting...

Starter breaking teeth off of the converter

Thanks. I spoke to another person familiar with this issue and they suggested using a starter for a late 90’s early 2000’s V8 Dakota pickup.

Starter breaking teeth off of the converter

It is a power master mini starter. The car Did start, ran and drove on city streets (no highway) for about 15 minutes, then Cutoff. When trying to restart, you could hear starter engage but spinning freely, no resistance from the converter. Had the car towed back to trans shop that installed the...

Starter breaking teeth off of the converter

Good afternoon everyone, I have a 440 stroked to 512 in my 74 challenger mated to a 727 auto. I have had two converters have teeth broken off by the starter. I had a reputable transmission shop install everything and they say that everything was installed properly and that everything lines up...

    Electric exhaust cut outs

Anybody running electric cut outs on their cars? If so, what brand are you running, and are their issues I should look out for? Just swapped a 512 into my Challenger and was thinking of adding them. My concern is exhaust leaks popping up. Thanks!

440 clearance under challenger flat hood

Thanks for the info and pics. Beautiful car! I have a tall deck 440 and a taller intake which is causing my clearance issue. The flat hood will close with no air cleaner or air cleaner stud in the carb. I went ahead and ordered the rallye hood to get the extra clearance I needed.

440 clearance under challenger flat hood

Good morning everyone, I have a ‘74 challenger that was a factory 318 car with the flat hood, that I am swapping to a 440 based 512 stroker. My questions are: 1. will the 440 fit under the flat hood with carb and air cleaner? 2. Does the bracing on the underside of the R/T hood allow for...

Best torsion bar upgrade when swapping small block to big block

Thanks! I’m running 225/60 and 255/60. Upgraded to rear HD springs when one of the originals broke a few years back. Goal is to upgrade the torsion bars to support the extra weight of the big block, and stiffen up the ride a little. Not hitting the bump stops, but can get a bit floaty on rough...

Best torsion bar upgrade when swapping small block to big block

I have a 74 Challenger with a 340, that I am swapping out for a 512 stroker (440 block). While the motor is out I want to upgrade the torsion bars and wanted to know what brand and diameter people are running. My car will be a cruiser that may see a little action between lights, but won’t see...

74 challenger, original 318 car, currently 340, starting 440 swap

I recently replaced the trans in the car with a new Street Rodder 727 from TCI. I spoke with a rep at smr motorsports that said they make an adapter plate to mate the TCI small block 727 to the 440. That is the current plan.

74 challenger, original 318 car, currently 340, starting 440 swap

Thanks for the info! What modifications did you have to make for the harness? Since a big block wasn’t available in ‘74, I haven’t been able to locate a new harness.
