They have to be straight as an arrow. They suck. That's why you always saw Mopars with aluminum valve covers, even cabs and police cars.....they were thick and didn't warp. Get the rail as straight as you can, and OPTIONAL: from the underside, dimple it upward (away from the head casting) a tiny...
I'm just curious if any of you have 68-69 Hemi car with the Holleys...what jets are you using? I don't have the original carbs, like everyone else but I'm just about dialed in. I should have asked here first. I like Holleys, once you finally reach the sweet spot nothing runs like them.
You have got to measure every last thing now. I know about rollers, but a lot of use aren't running them. They make it easier though. But you need to have crown on 16 lifters and taper on each lobe ...and each journal had better be right. If that lifter quits rotating that engine is gonna have...
All I can say is that m ost of them get their lifters from the same place (China). You have to check everything when it arrives. Lifters, cam lobes, bearing journals, all of it before you install it no matter the brand, but especially the lifters. If you get one with no crown on it, you will...
Thank you both. I'm running down both leads, and very VERY much appreciate it. I have already got a message from a scammer who opened an account today to contact me about "their friend that has top shelf stuff". Reported it. Thanks again
I want the 100% NOS neg battery cable or perfect repro. Where can I get one. 70 Hemicuda. I just don't want any parts store stuff. This is a very original Thanks and please!
Wait 'til you get a Daytona or 500. Take the lead off and carefully get the rear window plug out and you'll see all the rust where they did some grinding and just said f***k it and put the plug in and slapped it together and painted it. Some got moisture into areas where there was bare metal...
I think a lot of folks are on edge with all of the quality issues we are seeing. Being diligent and possibly over doing it won't hurt you. Missing something can cost you thousands.
Did you have to get pushrods made? I had one do that and all it turned out to be was two valves weren't quite closing all the way. I backed them off a bit and that solved it
Very Little Paint is right. As in they missed huge areas. Under the rear shelf. Inner quarters, often in the cowl and inner (medial) areas of the rockers etc etc. When you restore a MoPar, you are almost always upgrading the paint and corrosion resistance. There is a reason these things went to...
Never used to hear of lifter drama. Now whenever someone say "lifter failure", 30 people are saying "I'll bet it was Comp Cams"
Comp cams, are you guys reading this?
Do what's posted directly above, or even use a copper scouring pad from the grocery store. Avoid LED's. Chances are half of them will die out in a week and you'll have to go back in there and start all over again. Keep the Chicoms out of your dash, you'll be a lot happier. Also, you don't really...
That last photo is significant. The factory dual four Carter intake was worthless to Nascar, and really most racers. I am aware that the single Holley solid tappet engines were widely available not only via parts, but also directly from Chrysler in you were in their network. As stated, these...
