Removing and getting out the oil filter? What am I missing?

Yeah... kept thinking and thinking and thinking about one. For now I put the adapter back in and even now just tightening everything up and talk about a bugger to get into. Oh well... adapter is on... filter is on. I put just a touch of Ultra Black on the 90 degree adapter and waiting for it...

Removing and getting out the oil filter? What am I missing?

Hi folks... Couldn't resist posting on this as I have a 73 Cuda with a 340 and 727 trans. With edelbrock RPM heads and TTi headers, there is absolutely no way to get the oil filter out the bottom. I just spent the last hour thinking how I could position my 90 degree adapter and could I get...

Where to run electrical line to power in tank fuel pump?

Thanks folks!!! I was thinking that's what I should do, but I was questioning myself.

Where to run electrical line to power in tank fuel pump?

I am just switching over to an Edelbrock Pro Flo system and as a result have bought an Aeromotive 340 tank with in tank fuel pump. What's the best place to run the power line to the fuel pump? Through the firewall and inside then through the trunk? Or down along the brake lines on the frame...

    Engine mount not low enough

Finally got it. Tried lifting and setting it 10 times... nope. Sat back... poured a rum... and went WTF. Figured... one side us perfect so I undud the mounts to the block so they were completely loose and put it down again. Motor mounts fit perfectly then. Could thread the bolts through by...

    Engine mount not low enough

How come as teenagers we seemed to do all kinds of dumbass things that seemed to work just fine????

    Engine mount not low enough

Well thats the annoying part of this all. It's the same motor mounts from when the motor was in the car. All I did do was tighter to the block this time. But I suspect that you have to be right as it's the only thing that makes sense.

    Engine mount not low enough

Good day folks.... Tried to get 340 into the cuda and for some reason, I cannot get the passenger motor mount to come down the extra 1/2" that's needed. The driver side went in with no problems. Anybody else run into this issue before and what did you do? I mounted the mounts to the block...

Windage Tray on 340 - Use the original or go with new Milodon windage tray with new larger Milodon oil pan? Is there a difference?

I went with the milodon windage tray only because the factory one sits so low in a Milodon low pro oil pan that the windage tray almost sits on the oil pan ledge itself. The milodon stud mounting kit turned out to be the BIGGEST CLUSTER F$$$ that you can ask for. I got a flat bottom tap...

Should the oil pump sit flat against block - 340?

Ok. Oil pickup goes deeper. Just have to keep working it an eighth of a turn then back. But the oil pump itself is definitely hitting (not the main bolts) the inside of the hole. I did read for some Chevy models to put the oil pump in the freezer for 2 hours to cool it but that's for when...

Should the oil pump sit flat against block - 340?

I just got my Meiling HV pump for my 340 rebuild and when I check the fit, it sits about a 1/16" above the #5 cap. I am assuming that the oil pump should sit flat. So do I need to take a grinder to the block or the neck of the pump to make it fit? Secondly, how many threads should the oil...

Windage Tray on 340 - Use the original or go with new Milodon windage tray with new larger Milodon oil pan? Is there a difference?

The high volume clears either I think... I couldn't tell because after 5 months waiting on a Meilling HV pump from Summit, it came with a cracked neck. So pretty bummed out as I type this.

Windage Tray on 340 - Use the original or go with new Milodon windage tray with new larger Milodon oil pan? Is there a difference?

Uncovered the block to start getting it ready to paint and here is how they cover the crank. The factory tray sits about 0.5 inches higher than the Milodon tray. The milodon can be slid down but either way 2 sets of bearings are basically left exposed.

Windage Tray on 340 - Use the original or go with new Milodon windage tray with new larger Milodon oil pan? Is there a difference?

Yes, you are correct. I looks like the tray is moved to the 3rd and 4th mains instead of 2nd and 4th. I was going to re-use/swap the bolts and I do have a Milodon windage tray mounting kit coming from Summit. Asides from a few more cuts in the tray though, it looks like it's smaller and that has...

    Help on gear selection - 3.55, 3.73 or 3.91 for 727

I had a transmission shop check the kickdown linkage and they thought that it was adjusted perfectly. I have a Lokkar (if I remember the name) cable kickdown linkage. So easy to install and adjust.

    Help on gear selection - 3.55, 3.73 or 3.91 for 727

Yep... I have checked the gears and they are definitely 3.23s. The tires are 275/50R15 so I have always assumed that it was a combination of tire width and perhaps soft shocks (as I think they are factory) That results in the car just squatting down and basically putting the power down to the...

Windage Tray on 340 - Use the original or go with new Milodon windage tray with new larger Milodon oil pan? Is there a difference?

Good day folks I am going through the process of re-building a 340 for my 1973 Cuda. I have to rebuild it due to stupidity on my part. We put Hughes hydraulic roller lifters in, combined with Comp Cams Pro Magnum Shaft mounted roller rocker arms. Which when i called were not supposed to be...
