    1970 Old Race Car

It's not an S.E. I sold the fuel cell and bought a new gas tank. There is a big hole in the trunk floor where the fuel cell was, ordered the AMD trunk floor. Sold the wheels and tires, I want to go to some original looking wheels, but with modern radial tires. What size of tire would be close to...

    Hello from Alberta Canada

The pictures on this site are easy, find the icon of a square with a tree in it, click and browse to your pictures. I sold the fuel cell and the racing wheels and slicks, now the car needs wheels, seats, fuel tank, grille and front valance, etc.

    My Sad Tale!

I was looking for a Challenger, and this 1974 was listed again. It looked fairly complete in the pictures. The same place you went to, I immediately saw the scat pack, SE 1970, offered him $5000 which was a stretch because it is sitting under pine trees and getting rusty. The 1974 had no hood...

    1970 Old Race Car

I have started collecting parts. I found a grille on Ebay, as well as tail lights. I'm looking for seats, hopefully in Alberta. Just the front seats are missing. I have ordered a trunk floor from AMD, the fuel cell is cut into the floor.

    Hello from Alberta Canada

Just an update. I had looked at a 70 Challenger last fall, but they did not want to sell. It is an old drag race car, full cage, fuel cell, slicks, etc. Someone had been raiding parts and got the grille, tail lights and dash cluster. No motor, but not much rust. I bought it too, tryin to make a...

More cam for 1971, 318 engine

I selected and sent for the Summit cam, SUM-6901. It has 441/441 lift and 218/228 duration at .050. A little more duration than the whiplash, so it should have that lumpy idle. The lower lift will give me room for a head shave, and let me get more compression. I will use the springs that came...

    1970 Old Race Car

The 1974 Charger in the first picture has a 408 stroker with the complete 6-pack set-up, and I plan to put that engine in the 70 Challenger. I have the original 318 that was in the charger.

    1970 Old Race Car

I've been wanting to build a T/A clone, so today I picked up this old race car. It has the right hood . Has 4 hood pins and no hinges. Works for me. Fiberglass fenders, too. The paint wouldn't stick to the fiberglass, it must need a primer. The grille and much of the interior is missing. Looking...

More cam for 1971, 318 engine

The whiplash cam is .485/.518 lift , 213/226 duration at .50. It is called Whiplash 318, from Hughes engine, so they must have kept it under .520 for these engines. I have the cam and the matching springs, I was going to put in my 1979 Ramcharger removable top 4x4. My goal is to have a 360...

More cam for 1971, 318 engine

I recently bought a 1971 Challenger project. It has the original 318 engine, now out of the car. I put the engine on a stand, it rolled over OK. I have a Hughes Whiplash cam I want to install in it and get it running. So I started the tear down. The 4 bl Holley carb and intake came off easily...

    Hello from Alberta Canada

I have been looking for a Challenger to fix up, here in Alberta, Canada. There are very few fixer uppers, lots of nice finished cars, though. So I drove to another city in Alberta last month, the wife came along for company, and we looked at a 74 Challenger for sale easy resto. It was missing a...

    Who's running a 340 intake on a 318?

I used a SP-2P Edelbrock on my 318. The port match is good and runner velocity will be great with the stock cam. The thermoquad will fit. I used an AFB, 500 CFM, and it worked very well. These intakes are no longer made, but I had no trouble finding one on the internet. You should be fine with...

    340 leak at adapter plate...

Try a new gasket kit. There is the Mopar gasket kit and one from NAPA. The large diameter circle shaped gasket under the plate is thin and narrow. NAPA sells neoprene sheet, and you can cut a slightly wider gasket, use gasket cement to attach it to the plate before installing. Use the thin seal...
