When you find out, let me know. I recently ordered a set from Year One. Very disappointed. Sent them back immediately. The shape of them did not follow the body contours as the they rolled down the lower portion of the wheel wells. Would have required the skills of someone that can shape metal...
just received some reproduction wheelwell mouldings for my 70 cuda from a major reproduction parts supplier in the southeast. The mouldings don't follow the opening as well as I expected them to. Especially towards the ends. Is this as good as the quality gets with these things? Is it expected...
I've got a nice looking 340 with the entire top end made of aluminum aftermarket parts. The car was a complete restoration, but after a few years, I wasn't satisfied with the stock performance or sound. So I pulled the motor, did fun stuff to it, ending up with an orange block and aluminum top...
found the problem. freeze plug on the side of the block. the coolant was running along the top of the oil pan gasket, finally forming the drips at the last oil pan bolt at the back of the motor.
I've got a small coolant leak coming from the back passenger side of the oil pan. Nothing more than tablespoon that puddles up on the garage floor over a few days after I drive the car. Crawled under the car, cleaned things up to help diagnose the origin, took off the flywheel dust shield. Used...
my rally gauges (temp, oil pressure, fuel) occasionally and rapidly go full scale at the same time. They only stay there there for a few seconds, then gradually fall to the normal readings. Any troubleshooting ideas? Thanks
got it fixed. Found out today, that I should install the front seal dry. Sealant on the ends where it meets the oil pan gasket and timing cover. I was using silicon sealant on both sides of the gasket along it's entire length. Plus I don't think I had the rubber nipple pulled all the way through...
OK, fix the thread issue with the helicoil. Now having trouble with oil pan to timing chain cover gasket staying in place. Numerous attempts ending with frustration and failure. The rubber seal is being pulled into the the oil pan as I tighten the bolts. Last attempt, I carefully tighten all the...
thanks for responses. Gotta hope the helicoil holds. Installed it yesterday. Had I seen Chryco Psycho response before I did the job, I may have used the Timesert. Looks like a good product. Maybe the next I get the pleasure of doing this job, I'll choose the Timesert.
thanks for the tip. That didn't work either. Felt the bolt never was tightening properly, and found damaged threads on the bolt. As if something was cutting into it. Pulled everything off the front of the block, found the bolt holes in the block are damaged. I'm able to wiggle a 5/16"-18 tap...
Yes, they been great to work with. Bought heads and vlv train from them. All parts delivered on time. Had some tech issues with the vlv train. Talked to them several times for diagnostic help. Always helpful.
Got motor started and through the break-in period. Yea. Valve train noise appears to be gone, but difficult to hear over the exhaust leak noise. Found my drivers side, stock cast exhaust manifold is cracked. I think this happened during the break-in run. Dimensions of hte edelbrock rpm heads...
Hughes adjustable rockers, shaft and custom cut pushrods. Lunati cam with hydraulic flat tappet lifters. Pulled the valve covers off last night and went through the rocker adjustment procedure as outlined in the literature that came with the rockers. Found seven seven that were loose. Double and...
Finally got the motor started. Thanks for the earlier guidance.
More concerns.......have only ran the motor about 3mins of the suggested 20min break-in time........once for 2mins, once for 1min.......about 1 min into the run, I think the lifters start clicking, I get nervous and shut it...
