I think it is more a matter of them not wanting to find their car cloned with all the correct data on the fender tag. Better safe than sorry in today's world. You don't know what someone might try to pull.
Look up Mopar Core Casting Index Number, you'll find a better explanation than I can give you. It has something to do with the number of times the casting core was used for the cylinders.

I have a distributor I pulled off my six pack a few years ago because the parts store couldn't find any info to get parts for it. Is this an original six pack distributor. If so, is there a way to tell the manufacturing date?
My dad cut a hole in the fender well of his Challenger to take out the starter because it was about impossible to remove with the headers in the way. I don't recommend it, just pointing out how difficult it may be to replace.
