Back in the day pics

Here's my back in the day photo. This was in 1978. This was my RT/SE 440 Six Pack Challenger. Originally it was plum crazy with a white top and black interior.

I totally agree! Deep dish aluminum slots were th S..t! Dont know why wheel companies dont make em anymore.
Some close but no Cigar...Keystones! Memories!
The first thing done back then took the factory wheels off, which some had to be rally's and put the slotted mags.... My uncle did exactly that on his '70 340 shaker 'Cuda, they were Appliance Wheels....
 
Cudas (340, 383) would have dual exhaust w/ tips. This one seems to have standard (single exhaust) valance. :wtf:. Maybe a factory 'G'-code car?
It's been a long time. I went with him when he bought the car in 1980 for $500. The car had the 340 with a shaker hood in really sad shape.(roof half gone, interior shot) He restored the car but I don't recall whether it was an original H code car? I went to look to see if I had another pic of his car with no luck.:confused:

Except for California ordered Cudas, at least that is what I have read. Interesting, looks like it has a rear antenna like an AAR, it looks like it has the upper door trim like a Cuda would have, but doesn't seem to have the rear tail panel trim like a Cuda should have. Cuda or Barracuda, anyone know?

The first thing I thought was that it could be a California car or maybe he put AAR exhaust on the car and changed the valance?
 
Still haven't figured out why the 'garden-variety' aluminum slots were so popular in seventies and eighties.

IMO, As I remember there was not a great "variety" of wheels back in the 60-70's as found today.

I remember wheels started with chrome reverse, torque thrusts, Keystones, Cragars/Rocket, American wheels, Ansen slotted wheels/ Appliance spoke wheels, center lines.

Not much more available like today where wheel styles are designed with ease using computers

Pretty much limited to what was on market which was not much

To be different I ran my factory Rallye Wheels which really stood out among all the guys with their cookie cutter after market wheels and 12" rear shackles

As you can tell, I've always liked the factory look
 
Look at all the drag cars from th day..even Big Daddy ran light weight slots..way before centerlines ect. Extra Rim width wasnt available on stock wheels. Evolution began!
 
Some of my dad's Mopars back in the 80's. I now own the Challenger, a 1970 RT/SE 383 A/C car. The side pipes came off long before I bought the car.

Had this 71 Cuda for 45 years before i sold it off.
Ordered it in May 71, pretty much at the end of the model year.
Picture most likely is summer of 72.
