Installing a trans in the old days by yourself; the way we old timers had to do it!

I use B head bolts with the head cut off to align tranny. When I tried getting that 4 speed in, I could only lift the front on to the bellhousing and that was it. Couldn't lift the back to get it in there. Now my good friend Jack does all the heavy lifting.

Installing a trans in the old days by yourself; the way we old timers had to do it!

I had times when I had to replace a 3 speed tranny. So when my 68 Road Runner 4 speed blew the clutch, out of warranty of course, I knew I could do it myself. Living in Queens NY, and no garage, working on the street dropped the tranny and when it fell on my chest I thought I was going to have a...

    Nag1 Starter

On my 74 318 Duster and 71 Hemi Cuda, starter is far enough away from steering box. Although both cars have the Borgeson box, I don't think it is impeded, starter, by the stock PS box.

    Head Gasket leak

What engine, and do you know why gasket is leaking? Usually an overheat, or maybe cheap gasket. If you tell us, may help someone else from making same mistake.

    74 cuda new hood

The other thing to watch is they only had the shaker with cut out for hood pins. Fortunately my car was original to hood pins so not a problem.

    74 cuda new hood

On a 71 Cuda I used a shaker hood from AMD and bought it from Stephens at Carlisle. It fit really nice, but not sure if the weight is the same. I used the springs from the fiberglass hood because it took too much pressure to close it with the original hood springs. I was afraid it would bend the...

    Nag1 Starter

I guess original starter cable gets deep sixed. After having it on drivers side for a 100 years, lets put it on passenger side for a change, any advantage?

    Anyone ever see this before

Did he think it was a 71 thing only? I have my 71 build sheet and no I or O's on it.

    Anyone ever see this before

I would think the workers wouldn't have access to the O's and I's because they know somebody would incorrectly use them. Could it be workers playing games? Anything is possible, maybe an April 1st Vin.

    Anyone ever see this before

They don't use O's and I's in Vin's because of the confusion it may cause. They only use 1's and zero's in the vin.

    Hood won’t latch.

Get some clay or silly putty and put on the bracket and close hood you'll be able to see where you're coming down on.

    Hood won’t latch.

I don't know what car were talking about beside an E body, maybe you have the wrong receiver that accepts the latch. The other basic thing is make sure the receiver is open to accept the striker, which is the loop.

    cuda seat frames ?

The foam for the leather seats is different than the stock seats. I may have an upholsterer do it for me.

    cuda seat frames ?

I have a 71 Cuda with the stock vinyl, and I'm replacing it with the leather because I never liked the look of the stock seats.
