Modifying the carb to work the way you need it shouldn't be too hard, and it's a lot cheaper than a new one. If going with a new carb, I'd put on an AVS2 650 or maybe even the 800cfm if you are going to wind it out. I put a 650 AVS2 on my Cuda's 340 and it ran pretty darn well right out of the...
You definitely want to take the rockers apart and clean them and run a piece of wire through each orifice and flush the shafts out. My rockers had a few chips in them, which doesn't surprise me. The hand work required to thoroughly clean them adds cost and I'd rather do it myself to save and...
I have a set of 1.6 ratio for my 340. They are pretty well regarded. Can't comment on the fitment on BB heads but most of the aftermarket SBM heads need some geometry correction. That's the result of longer valve stems and fatter springs most of the time. Not a huge deal but something to be...
Nice piece.
I'm interested in what parts (hydroboost, pump, etc.) you used for the install and how they are working. Do you have a build thread? I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to convert to hydroboost with the cam my new motor is going to be running.

Al is down in your neck of the woods and typically is moving a variety of A, B, and E-body parts. He might be able to help you.
I've got a 3.55 Sure Grip rear in my 73 Cuda that I may not be needing, but I won't know until next year sometime.
The blue on the tapered portion of the spindle is from heat treating the areas where the wheel bearing races sit. You can see the transition band next to the larger diameter. The spindle would be rough turned and threaded, then heat treated probably with an inductive heater, and then the...
That's a bit more cage than I'm considering but it is nicely done, and required by that beast.
I also don't want to half-ass it making concessions for back seat access. As I keep looking at it, it's getting harder and harder to accomplish what I'm thinking about.
I would like to have my cake, and eat it too. I'm considering putting a roll cage in my car due to my intention to run some large tracks such as Road America. Cage would be both for roll-over/crash saftey as well as additional chassis stiffness over the US Car Tool kit. Would also serve as...
The black looks like it was applied properly and isn't flaking off? I'd just scuff it, knock off any suspect areas down to the original purple, then prime and paint it. No way would I sand blast and dustless is not dustless. You end up with the paint that was removed as dust all over.
I considered doing my own from scratch. It's not rocket science. Mark the placement path on the floorpan. Establish a start and stop point for each side so the two profiled panels stay in sync to each other. Then use a couple of plastic profile gauges off amazon to map the floor onto a...
Have you contacted USCT? I just looked at the pics on their website and while small, they looked like the features were the same orientation as in your pics.
I've got a set of these connectors for my 73 Cuda not installed yet and besides the length, they should have similar floorpan features...
You are a lot further along than I am. Mine still looks pretty much like the pic in post #5. BUT, I am hoping that I'll be able to focus on it pretty much full time in a couple weeks and get all the major body work done before the snow flies. I did manage to get the 340 rebuilt. I was going...
Rule of thumb is that the length of a threaded fastener going into the hole should be at least the diameter or the thread. Going longer isn't bad and adds strength but in many cases isn't required. So a 5/16-18 bolt should go into a hole that has at least 5/16" of thread depth, to achieve full...
I need a new radiator for my Cuda. It originally had a 26" radiator and now has a 20 or 22 that is going to be inadequate. Engine is a 340 that dyno'd at a conservative 460hp, so I'm going to need an efficient cooling system. I am switching to a manual trans so don't need the built in...
Matt,
Thanks for the pics.
I don't think that pan is what I'm looking for. It's definitely a race pan. Has an increased capacity and has some baffling, but it's all for straight line work, like drag racing.
Thanks, I'm interested in seeing it. I know I can add baffling and doors if I have to. I'd just prefer to get one that's done if I can find something used. $700 from Milodon for something that has a reputation for bad weld quality is hard to swallow. But it is something of a known quantity.
