73 e body challenger motor mount mods

Has anyone and tips trick to upgrade the stock motor mounts to something that can't tear off? Maybe something tubular like the 80's vollares or a truck mount that can be made to work? I hate the idea of a chain .. wish someone would make a mount like the late 80's vans have. Like this see photo

even on a hemi barracuda convertible, the OEM mounts were those rubber mounts. presuming they're not cheaply made, they last for decades before failing. generally, only the driver side fails.

that said, there are "solid" motor mount options, out there, if you search.

the solid mounts are a metal brackets without any rubber. they're a tad harsher, because they transfer more engine vibration to the frame. but for maximum performance, these are hard to beat.

Mancini Racing has a torque strap kit Item #: MRETQABE. Give it a look.
 
Mancini has interlocking mounts also , can't recall the name at this moment tho ../
Mag mount maybe ?

E-Body V8s are all basically the same motor mount as far as I'm aware of. It's just the brackets between the motor mounts and block that's different. That's why it's so easy to put a big block in a 72-74 E-Body. 😁
 
I modified a set of stock mounts to take a large flat head bolt with a nyloc nut on the back side. Pics don't show it that well, but the bolt constrains the two plates that are bonded to the rubber material and limit how far they can flex when in tension on that side of the motor. You set the nut so that there can be a little motion in tension but not too much. Same concept as the Dynatech mounts but achievable with minimum tooling in the home shop.
