1970 Chalenger 727 Shifter Console Adustment

Removed knob on shifter - shifts into r-d-1-2 no problem . Knob adjustmed several ways will not go into gear.
Is there any other place to adjust?

When you say "will not go in to gear" do you mean in the transmission? There are adjustments that can be made under the car to align D at the gear shift with D on the transmission, R-R, N-N, 2-2, etc.

Do you have a Factory Service Manual for your car? It is available, for free, in PDF form with a little googling. mymopar and e-bodies.org both have them.

It will shift perfect using the threaded rod without the knob and button . I backed off as far as i could which raises the black button in the center of the round knob

Please clarify if its the shifter that isn't clicking in to place (with the knob and button), or the selected gear at the transmission isn't clicking in to place.
