My Dad has decided it’s time to sell his car that has been in the family since 1996. I thought I would list it here for starters and see how it goes...

1970 Dodge Challenger T/A. 28,6xx original miles. Obviously it’s a 340 6-Pak with factory 4 speed and 3.91 Sure-grip rear. All numbers match the dash VIN- Engine, Trans, core support, cowl, Door tag (off of car). Extensive documentation includes- Window Sticker, Broadcast sheet, Both fender tags, Dealer order write up, etc. It is in the T/A-AAR registry.

The following info is as I know/remember/researched it:

This car had an amateur restoration that was competed in 2004 and included many NOS parts that the prior owner had accumulated. I strove to make it as nice as I could and the few Non-OEM parts on it include: MP electronic ignition system, radial tires and an E-body 6-way seat.

The car is highly optioned for a T/A as you can see on the window sticker. I have most all the original parts including the factory 4 speed dual point distributor, starter, clutch, heater hoses, fan clutch, etc.

History- The car sold new at E L Jones Dodge in Summerhill, Pa and sold new to a gentleman from Portage Pa where the second owner(s) also reside. We brought it 28 miles down the mountain to Altoona, Pa where it’s been ever since. The car’s original owner got tagged in 1973 while street racing and his Dad made him park it until the second owners obtained it circa 1978 and kept it until 1996 when my Dad purchased it- hence the low miles (26,xxx at that time). As a result of the accident the second owner installed the following NOS parts: R quarter, R rear frame rail, trunk floor and R inner/outer wheel house. We bought it as a roller and ended up farming out the needed body and paint. We completed the remaining restoration in house.

Interior- 100% original (except for repo bucket seat backs) and the factory dash is perfect. The tach is not accurate and the clock is temperamental.

Exterior- The resprayed FJ5 Sublime paint is as it appears in the pictures. I did notice some bubbling on the drivers side rocker in front of the rear wheel. The trunk, door jambs and undercarriage were not clear coated and aren’t as nice (dull) as the outside. All the tinted glass is original except the windshield.

Driveline- Center carb metering block rotted due to bad gas and was replaced. All carbs are stock issue, air cleaner seal, tape and drain hose is original, have idle solenoid and bracket to put on but it’s currently off of the car. Engine was rebuilt- stock bore, rods and mains. Has MP purpleshaft .484/.284 in it- I don’t like it; should have gone back to stock. Replacement diaghragm clutch/ P-plate installed. 4 speed had new tailshaft installed (and maybe synchros?), 3.91 SG works-only changed the fluid.

While it’s pedigree cannot be argued as it is a very low production car, we simply do not drive it and have put less than 2-3k miles on it over the last 16 years. Although we did drive it to Carlisle in 2006 (and 2010) and Sam Posey signed the air cleaner lid. The car needs detailed, cleaned up and tuned up. It just sits and never gets driven which is a shame.

We want it to go to a good home. It’s a car that you can make as nice as you want and never get hurt. We would love to make a deal but if not it will continue to sit in a climate controlled garage Ad infinitum.

I will be happy to answer any/all questions to the best of my ability. I have a short video I shot of it running and lots of other pics. Honesty above all else. Please PM me here with interest.

Asking $72,500

Car is located in Altoona, Pa

Thank You
