Is there a way to find the vin, fender tag etc by just the engine number?

No. But you can tell if it is an actual T/A motor from the casting number.
Also the cowl and radiator support numbers to see if they match your block.

Isn't the number stamped on the motor the last digits of the VIN?

Yes. We were hoping to get the complete vin and learn something about the car.

There are several registries and at least 1 member that have extensive databases.
With the engine stamping, I'm sure they can tell you what it came out of, and probably more.

What is the vin stamp number?
There are several folks here that have large amounts of saved information.
Could have something on your car or the motor.

The vin on a T/A would start with JH23J0B plus the last 6 sequential #s on the block but it will not reveal much about the car you don't already know , the fender tag will have some option info but without the tag or build sheet there is no way to know .
