hey all,

I am doing an automatic to manual transmission swap. I have all the parts to do the swap and my question is the torque rod (Z-bar) mounting bracket I received from Classic Industries has an angle to it. I know I have to weld the mounting bracket in but I don't know exactly where it goes.

If someone could take a picture of their set up or has a diagram illustrating where exactly the mount needs to be placed would be greatly appreciated.

Does your frame have a slot and the mounting bracket have a tab?

I believe the z-bar should be straight across in any view when installed (MP book?).

I just did mine, 1974, the frame should have a locating slot for the bracket. The bracket should have a tab that fits in the slot. You may need to file the tab square so it fits better. This locates it properly. Look down at the frame rail below the brake booster and you should see it. The welding is as easy as the access you give yourself. I did mine from below with the transmission out and the left header off. Cud a hunters pictures are spot on.

I did not get a picture, that would have been a great visual and one for the file. As soon as I stepped down from the weld, I said /@##££€€!

Trans cross member

Getting ready to do the same with my 74 Challenger. I'm told the auto trans cross member is the same for the 4 speed. Is that correct?

I'm doing the same mod on my 1974 Challenger. Here are the pics before install of the Z bar bracket

That's the photo that says it all.
The transmission cross-member is the same.(I think the same for 727 and 904 trans)
Driveshaft is the correct length if you have a 727 Auto trans, not the 904. This is assuming your installing an A 833.

Trans crossemmber is the same for a 3-speed, 4-speed manual or 904/727 automatic transmission in a 73 or 74 but 70-72 will not interchange with a 73 or 74
