Hey Mopar Gouls wanted to know if anyone could help me on my 340 Engine, wanted to know which car it was born with
its in my 72 Challenger The #s are Date 6/30/70 the front of the block is CW340P33460346 with a German Iron Cross at end (weird)the DR side # is 2780930 340 6 Pass side is 18166202 I appreciate any help on this
Thanks
Mike

Date 6/30/70 more that likely a 71. installed with in a few months. 2780930 casting 68-73 Maltese Cross = .001" US crank shaft. 3346 sept 25 71 numbers after that mean nothing as far as I know.

What is stamped on the pad above the oil pan lip on the block, passengers side?

Mike, is the "18166202" on the passenger side actually stamped on the pad above the oil pan rail? And might it be "1B166202". That would make more sense.

During further investigation and my early morning fog didn’t catch that it is infact a B

Most research I,ve done or what I could find is that the cutoff date was September mine of course indicates June30
Thats why I thought it was a 70 motor

To avoid confusion and to be clear, CW340P33460346 means:
CW340P - 340 premium fuel Windsor plant
3346 - Build date in 10,000 day (Julian) calendar which is September 25, 1970
0346 - 346th engine built that day

2780930-340-6 is the 68-73 340 block casted in mold serial number 6

1B166202 is a 71 car built in Hamtrack with a sequence number of 166202

We don't know what model car it came from. Could be from a Challenger, Cuda, Dart, Demon, Super Bee, Road Runner, etc. Unless someone sees this post and recognizes the sequence number, we'll never know.

Good thing is it's a steel crankshaft 340 with a lot of compression still.
