Some where in the back of this bald noggin, a memory of someone saying, "Yep, the 383 was originally built for MOPAR's default truck engine."

Everyone I ever saw, ran like a raped Ape when built....
But, am I remembering right. Did MOPAR tout that engine s their brute truck motor? And if'n you got it writing, steer me to it!

I can agree that the 383 is one of my favorites. Had several growing up and always ran as you described. Especially with some mods. As to the truck engine, I always thought the early “touted” engine was the 413. But, I just don’t know.

the 318 / 340 & the 383 share almost the same stroke even tho one is LA based & the other is B block so they are built to rev , the RB 413 has a longer stroke & more TQ so it would make more sense as the Truck workhorse which is the most common engine in trucks I have seen .
