I have a 70 challenger, I just replaced the wiring engine harness with one from year one.
I'm trying to figure out where the blue and gray/black wire go that coming out of engine harness on passenger side. I believe the gray and black wire is for rpm tach and goes to negative side of coil. Please advise if I'm wrong.....but where does the thicker blue wire go...positive coil??? Thank u

Yes the correct wires are going to ballast resistor.

Ideal solenoid. I'm just taking a guess here, don't see everything. AC? You might have to follow it back to the bulkhead connector or where ever it goes. and see where it connects.

The older OE style coils had a notch in one of the terminals that matched the "D" in the wire. They did that to ensure the wire was placed on the correct terminal.

I though of that just want to be sure. There's a thick blue wire coming off ballast resistor...anyone know if a ballast resistor wire has to go to the coil to operate correctly?

As suggested follow the blue wire to see where it's connected. Is the wiring harness of stock color configuration? There is a dark blue wire that goes to the ballast.

That diagram shows a dark blue going to the + of the coil. I've never seen a "D" shaped wire going to anything other than the coil.

Ok thanks everyone. I believe it's coming from resistor and seems like it goes to positive on coil.
