Good afternoon guys, my 71 Cuda has the R26 cassette player option that mounts to the floor (no console) is there a welded bracket from the floor like for the console? I do have the offset bracket already with the holes in it, but does that bolt directly to the floor with the screws? I tried to research in parts book, with no success. This is for the 4 speed mount. Attached is a picture of one similar to mine. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

from memory: unlike the center console, there is no factory mounting bracket under the carpet to which the pedestal bracket attaches. The pedestal screws through the carpet and directly into the sheet metal of the floor pan.

I just replaced my carpet a couple months ago. The bracket screws directly to the tunnel floor. The second photo is an old photo of my cassette taken at least 15 years ago.

Thank you Pschlosser, would you know the location to mount cassette? Any reference locations or measurements out on the internet that you know of?

My 2¢. With the car somewhat level. I would pull the carpet back. Place level on tunnel for reference and match. Place bracket on the back side of the hump on the tunnel. As seen in the picture. Then level as check prior. Mark and drill small hole to start. Put screws in the holes so you know where to cut. For some reason I'm thinking the carpet was sliced then bracket installed. Someone else can comment on the rest of the install.

In my car, there was not carpet under the feet of the bracket. There was a small square cut out to allow clearance around the bracket. The plastic mount bezel covers up the carpet for about an inch or so all the way around.

Terrywalker, if by chance next time your in your Mopar Gem, would you be able to take a quick measurement from the 4 speed chrome bezel front edge strait forward to the cassette plastic base edge?
