I am finishing restoration of 73 Challenger that I bought without the door cert. sticker
VIN is JH23G3B288433....does anyone have a door vin sticker with a serial number close to this and could provide the listed production month/yr?
I'm thinking its Feb-73 based on a few I have seen. Did not see one stamped on engine support btw
thanks,

Body Type: J = Challenger
Price Class: H = High
Body Type: 23 = 2 Door Hardtop
Engine: G = 318 150HP(net) or 170HP(net) 1-2BBL 8 CYL
Year: 3 = 1973
Sequence Number: 288433 = 188433rd Vehicle Built

Hard to tell the date it was built, but it was the 188433rd vehicle produced.

This info came from this site - Mopar VIN Decoder

The reason I ask is if I understand it correctly. There is a date on the bottom of the window sticker when it hits the line. Then the K frame is stamped. Then as it comes off the line the door sticker is applied with the same date as fender tag. As my window sticker on the bottom reads date 11 02 and 875 time? The door sticker reads 11 70. This is what I have seen and others have implied. I don't know if that is the correct sequence. Someone might correct it. There are not random numbers everywhere, their there for a reason. Either way a week either way.

Looks like "B" 75 to me, not 8 75? And what the h**l time is 8 75 anyway? My clocks don't show that time of day/night, but then I'm old and so are my clocks. I'm probably always sleeping at 8 75 and never see that time on the clock? :poke:

As I understand, the door tag was made as the car was leaving the facility.
If there were any issues with parts or workmanship the car could sit around for some time and in turn would change what the door sticker's date would be.
Please, someone from the era (worked there) and in the know correct me.

8:45 AM 24 HR clock. 🤣 I posted this at 9:32 PM just about to doze off. So I must be a day two younger that you.
No, that's not how military time works. 8:45 am is 0845. 8:45 pm is 2045. No 75 in the time code that I ever knew about. But then somebody comes up with something new all the time. I dunno.

Yeah I know USN been there. There are minutes of degrees and so on but thats not it. Younger people look at an analog clock and are bewilded let alone make change.

M&M....On my door sticker, MDH means month, day, and hour car was finished. I can say with certainty it is the factory applied label.

OK, I'm going to have to go look at my '70 door sticker to see if its the same. I've never noticed that before, maybe they made a change to the door stickers sometime between '70 and '73 ??? Interesting though.

Yes. I know the later cars have MDH in the lower left corner but IDK when they started this. OP, @ 288443 you should be close Jan or Feb. Anyone know how many were built per day?
