Looking for a 73 date code 489 case. Dated between 2 nd & 5 th month of 73. Empty case is fine. Also need a good OE 3.55 ring & pinion.

I have the case out of my 73 right now, but I don't know the date code, or how to decipher it even. I'm not really looking to get rid of it, but if it helps another member get a numbers correct unit for their car, and I can replace it for not much more, I'd consider it. I'll see what I have tomorrow night.

I,m in the process of restoring a 73 Cuda that I purchased in 1978 when I was 18. Unfortunately I traded the original unit for a different gear ratio back in the early 80's. Now I'm going back to were I started. lol I've attached a picture of a 73 unit that belongs to another Cuda I have. The numbers in the small oval above the case part number is the date code. ( MOST OF THE TIME) There were some cases made that the manufacture used this area for different identification. The pictured case was cast on the 49th day of 73. (493) Thank you for the response and offer to help a member

I looked over the case tonight, and I really can't read the numbers very well. The previous owner had sand blasted the case, so that is not helping. My best guess is 293, which puts it as January 29, 1973 if I understand the dating correctly.

That's a 1971 case. I'm not sure what those number markings mean on that case. Thank you for the effort though and have a great holiday.

Thanks for the identification, it seems like the markings on these are more based in voodoo then science. Anyway, have a great holiday as well.

PM me. I can send it out during the week as I am off. I will get a price from the post office tomorrow (12/26) and get that to you. I am just glad you can use it. It is in excellent condition.
