been busy today with other stuff too.
Picked up my 8 3/4 with 3.73 gears, balanced driveshaft.
got a call from Bob at Glenray radiator my new repro radiator ships tomorrow, should be here Saturday.
ordered my stroker kit form CNC motorsports along with my hughes solid roller cam. 10 weeks out for the custom cam grind ☹️
a quart of organizol shipped from 8774 paint.
canceled yearone order from 4 weeks ago for a front spring mount still no word on when it will be in. ordered it from Mancini today, will be here tomorrow. unbelievable.
inline tube front stainless flexible brake lines and fittings came today.
Billie touched up the back side of the gillrockers with black paint. argent silver on the face.
cleaned the grill and coated it with 303, looks like new 55 year old piece pics to come.
pulled the back casters off the car, waiting for a few touch ups on the rear end the brake component install on it then back on all fours.
contacted hughes convertor and filled out their tech sheet for a convertor match
I think that's it what a whirlwind today feels great getting closer on this sweethart.View attachment 144228View attachment 144229View attachment 144230View attachment 144231

AAR Cuda is my favorite car and I wrote three Cuda songs that are on youtube if you want to check them out under my artist search name: WFHDANB426
The songs are AAR CUDA, 70 CUDA & 71 CUDA. Hopefully my songs inspire people to keep restoring and loving these Cuda's as much as I do, even though I don't have my Cuda's anymore and can't afford one now. Great project and I'm looking forward to seeing yours when it's done.

Don, I sure hope you're running aluminum cylinder heads with that 11:1 compression! Either that or race fuel!
Make sure once you get the short block built, you use model clay and check the valve clearance! .600" lift is quite a bit! I usually do this without the head gasket and the head bolts basically hand tight. That way the gasket will give you an additional .025" to .040" valve clearance. Also, you want a quench zone of between .040" to .060" ideally. That will really help with proper combustion!

talked to hughes torque convertors filled out the card for match up came up with a suggested 3500 stall, I was thinking 3200 but sounds more like the ballpark since I'm stepping up on it a bit. Ordered it should be here in a week.

While having a beer or 3, I was taking closer observation of the hood situation, and realized that a 1x2 steel tubing will fit in between the sides of the existing support structure on the hood, so I'm gonna cut out the factory angle and the face of the fiberglass that was installed in the hood to bolt the hood to the hood hinges out, eliminating the factory issue also and keep from adding more weight.
then reinstall a 1x2 tubing in lieu of the factory stuff drill and install some weld nuts at the desired area to bolt the hood to the hinges. thus eliminating all the dumb ****. I love Mopars.

ordered some 5/16 weld nuts for the hood,
lubed up the leaf spring bushings, getting ready for install, laid out my shock mount plates, realized I have 2 left hand sides, ☹️.
ordered them a long time ago can't seem to find the receipt of course, sucks. thinking I got them from Mancini but not sure. checked all my online receipts found it nowhere, having trouble bringing up Mancini ones so I ordered a non original looking set from them being the oem ones are out of stock, bummer, left them a note to see if they can check and see if I ordered the other ones from them. Touched up the rear end, drive shaft and bump stop with some eastwood chassis paint. Seem to hold up well 2 part ceramic paint has a little soft finish kinda rubber, doesn't chip like regular paint, rocks dent it more than chip it off.

Talked to my friend down the road, he has built multiple engines with success over the years. He was talking about getting the rotating assembly in and checking the clearances, so I think with his guidance I should be good. Another older friend Doug Barker lives up the road in Grass Lake, moved there from around the corner, big Mopar nut used to race Hemi's in the 70;s and 80's Barker brothers racing, he did quite well back in the day, hoping to have him stop in while the engine is going together too. can't get enough minds together when putting this together, thank you very much for all your input, appreciate it. And welcoming any more.
