The hole spacing for the mirrors should be the same on all e bodies. 71 and up had a longer base. Short or long base will work on all years but short base would be correct on a 70!

70 mirrors themselves are different as well, they are repopped and should be available. BTW, the holes have nutserts in them, the mirrors are not just screwed into the doors, just saying.

Plastic, hmmmm, they sure look like the ones you could pick up at any aftermarket parts house. All of the side/rear view mirrors I know of for our E-bodies are metal whether painted or chromed. Yes the mirror support bases are different for the ‘70 models than the ‘71-74 models. Thank, Al

Yeah those mirrors in the pic are absolutely after market (JC Whitney) crap, but back in the day all sorts of stuff was put onto a lot of cars.

They have been on the car since I bought it in ........1988 and there is no holes in the door other than the ones in the picture

They still sell those things. I’m not totally putting them down, if maybe your car didn’t come with the sport mirrors and this is a add on for you, then go for it. I have the factory chrome sport mirrors on my Challenger. So, I don’t think there would be a chance me adding these on my car. OEM can be pricey if you locate them for sale online, repro can be pricey also if your budget is thin. But, a lot of these somehow ended up on our cars back in the day.

Then the car most likely came only with the drivers side mirror (not uncommon) and someone put the after market ones on. Find some used chrome ones that are ratty (read cheap), sand the crap out of them and paint them and you have good mirrors. Be cautious because there were A and B body mirrors that look similar but are not and will not fit an E body, or if they do they will angle weirdly.
