Since they used R-12 back then, and that refrigerant has been discontinued for several years now so availability is spotty and the prices are sky high when you find it. The best functioning system would be a complete modern R-134A system Vintage air and Classic auto air are the 2 most known company's making systems for the Classic Mopars. Around $1200.00 for a complete setup. Since R-12 and R-134A are not compatable with each other. They operate at different pressures, use different seals, hoses, oil, different capacity, instead of trying to convert an old system, it is best to go with a modern system. A/c compressor, receiver/drier, high and low pressure hoses, expansion valve, evaporator, condenser are the major components to an a/c system.
