I installed the CVF serpentine kit onto my 440 (512) engine w/power steering because I am running aftermarket Vintage Auto Air A/C and could not get the V belts to line up properly so it would throw the fan belt. Before I switched to serpentine I was able to put the second belt onto the AC compressor and alternator. The fan belt to PS pump/crank was the troublemaker.
The serpentine installation was pretty straight forward but not without its challenges too. Had to play with shimming the PS pump so the belt lined up properly. CVF said because of aftermarket part variations that could happen. I am using Trickflow 240 heads and 440 Source water pump housing. I bought their one wire alternator and PS pump when I got the kit so all had the 8 rib pulley. The PS pump had a problem so they replaced it free under warranty. After about 1000 miles their alternator quit so they replaced that too. Parts fail, so can't blame them for that. The customer service was good.
My biggest gripe is this: I was running a factory style 6 blade fan/shroud with clutch. Engine ran pretty warm at idle and lower speeds but cooled down quickly when moving and ran very close to 180 thermostat temps on the highway with the AC running. After I went to the serpentine setup the water pump belt would squeal when I got to about 3500 RPM. I contacted CVF and they said the fan/clutch was a lot of load for that one belt (that goes around the AC compressor, PS pump, crank, and water pump). They said they recommend electric fans instead. That sent me down a whole different (and expensive) rabbit trail trying to find fans that adequately cooled and would fit between the radiator and accessories. The serpentine setup puts the accessories closer to the radiator so less room now. Still searching for the optimum solution, but the two fans I'm using with aluminum shroud works OK at lower speeds but really hinders airflow on the highway. I would like to go back to the mechanical fan setup but the belt squealing is really annoying.
If you go with CVF, be sure to get the high flow fan pulley. The kit comes with the large diameter one which is NOT good for the street.
I wish you the best in your endeavor.
