Cylinder Head Date Decoding

I am having trouble figuring out what the date codes on my heads mean. One is 0971, the other is 1471. These are very clear, so I am almost certain I am not misreading them.

I have 71 cuda 383. The heads are the correct casting numbers (3462344 and 3462346). The engine block is numbers matching with a date code of 52471(May 24 1971).

It's a late built car but those heads appear to both be cast in July of `71, the 9th and the 14th. Did you get these #'s off of what appears to be a cast-in oblong tag with what appears to be cast-in screw heads?
