This is a low mileage Steel Cranshaft 1972 340HP. Most I have seen are
cast BUT this is a factory original steel crank engine! It has the correct hole
for a bushing for a 3 or 4 speed. Naturally it can also be used with a Torqueflite
as well.
It has been sitting in a shop for 45 or 50 years. Everything is standard = Both bore
and crank. This is the best original one I have seen for many years. I will include
the correct manifold and the right size Thermoquad and a factory distributor (If I find it in
the shop).
Extremely June 18th 1971 Casting Date which probably explains the forged steel crank rather that most of
the 1972 340s that I have seen that haf Cast Cranks that were built late in the production year. I think they
used up the remaining 340 steel cranks that were left from the 1971 model year. It is internally balanced from
the factory rather than externally like the later engines. This saves a lot of problems and trouble!
I will pull a Head off and send picture of the bore and head if needed but it was running fine
back then.
I also have a dozen 340 blocks that are Standard and good ($1,250). Also 030 Blocks ($850 or
$750 if need boring). Most have been Acid Washed (hard to get done anymore) or Hot Tanked.
Most also Sonic Tested and Magged.
Pushing 80 years old and I will not build and use them that much anymore.
Free Delivery in So. Cal. or So Nevada.
I will pallet it and Shipping will be $450. or less depending on your location.
