I have seen where it has been stated several years ago that the carpet never had a grommet where the dimmer swich was located. I truthfully do not remember a grommet in my 71 Challenger when I got it in 1972 and changed the carpet in 1984. I was going through some dimmer switch grommets I had and came across this one which is a Mopar one. The other side looks similar to the other reproduction grommets I've seen that are available now. Thoughts please.

This compares the Original Mopar Grommet on left to a reproduction grommet on right. The Mopar one is larger and is somewhat different.

What did the larger grommet with the mopar part number go to? Any ideas? The Mopar one was made in Erie, Pa. The reproduction ones are now made in Erie, PA. Are E-body owners even using the grommets?

It wasn't an E-body, that's pretty clear. Looks to me that Mopar grommet was from the '50's to early '60's for a Forward Look car. Probably a C-body of some sort? Imperial? Chrysler New Yorker? 300? Something along those lines is my guess.

Yes @Mopars&Missiles, you jogged my memory. About 35+ years ago, I parted out a 68 or 69 C-body. That must be from it. It's the only part I have from it. Do most people use the grommets or not? I never have in an E or B-body.

No idea if it is "correct" or not, but I am using one of these rubber grommets from Detroit Muscle Technologies in my Cuda. It is much nicer than the cheap plastic one that came with my ACC carpet.
