So I picked up a really Nice set of Rally Barracuda Seats. I took the back off the passenger seat and discovered a build sheet for a BH Vert. Would be great to find the car and get it to the owner. Photo attached and here is the cars number BH27G0B2259495. Man I wish I could find mine 🌴

Oops, fixed it. The 5 that I added to the end is actually in the Build to Spec. For column.

@Surfcuda, any chance that you have the original carpet still in your car? I have seen a few cases now where early build 70 cars like ours had carpet with a different rubber heel pad than was used on later 70 and 71-74 cars. It has horizontal ribs across the entire heel pad area instead of just on the right side. My VIN sequence number starts 117...

Yes, my 70 Vert has the early carpet with the vertical lines across the whole pad as shown in your first photo. 🌴

Cool, IIRC, you would be the fourth instance I'm aware of to support this 1970 early build variation. At least three of the four were Barracuda/Cudas, but not sure about the last one.

I saw the ACC Carpet you installed in another post. Looks fantastic, Great Job! I wasn’t aware of the early vs later carpet differences. Cool info, is your Cuda a Vert? 🌴

Thank you!

I wasn't aware of the carpet issues either until I switched mine. After opening the box I started ranting online about "incorrect" reproduction parts and got a bunch of responses from guys asking WTF I was talking about, stating that the partial ribbed heel pad was correct, and suggesting that I probably had some old aftermarket carpet in mine. Hence, I now always get excited when I come across another owner of an early-build Cuda that has some evidence to support my claim. That's why I asked as soon as I saw that you had a "B" built car with a sequence number beginning 116.

No, not a vert. :( BS23N0B car, Cuda 383 hardtop with 4-speed. Has the performance axle and max cooling packages, so is equipped with a 3.91 sure grip 8-3/4 and originally had Hemi leaf springs. Still has the original 956 26" radiator that was used in the Hemi cars. Originally FY1, Lemon Twist yellow, with a black vinyl top, but currently wearing a scaley/flaking flat black finish.

That’s some cool info on carpet heel pads. Man I love the 383 it is an awesome runner. Wish mine had it, but she has the 318 she was born with. I’m too old to be racing anymore, it’s all about cruising for me now. Mine is currently in Body/Paint prison. Hopefully I get her back by Christmas. Will post updates when I get her back 🌴

Looking forward to it. I have been following your build thread. You have a very cool car (even cooler now that I know it's an early build car) and I'm definitely jealous of how clean that thing is, being a So. Cal car.

Hopefully your original carpet is still in good shape. Would be a cool and seemingly pretty unique feature of these early build cars to be able to retain.

Thank you, yes luckily the carpet is in really good condition as well as the car. I was really lucky to have scored on this car after a 10 year search for a local Vert. I checked a few out over the years but this one spoke to me. I have the utmost respect for those who save these cars with serious rust issues. Incredible craftsmen. 🌴

Well I found the “Hamtramck Registry” an online site that accepts discovered build sheets and posts them under Found. Very Cool site with a lot of Build Sheets listed that are waiting to be reconnected with the cars. They have over 9000 items in the found section and have Fender VIN Plates listed as well. I will be sending the Build Sheet I discovered to them. Probably the best way to get the Birth Certificate back to the car. 🌴
