Trunk light and wiring for an E-Body. Wiring was cut at mid section at some point. I have the wiring to reconnect, or will sell as is. $50.

Nice idea, but I don't believe so. As I recall, the deck lid is isolated from ground, more or less, when in the down closed position. When opened, it grounds and completes the circuit for the lamp. The power lead going to the trunk lamp socket has power even when the key is off and trunk lid closed.

Not sure how the deck lid would be isolated from ground since it is bolted to metal hinges, and has a metal lock plate on it that touches the body as well. Took my info from other postings on this board to make my statement, and a pic of an NOS/refurbished light for this application. Anyone else weigh in??

Mercury switch, I bench test them out of the car and you tilt the housing it goes on and off

yes definitely has a mercury switch.
